Senior Center

Mission Statement: 
To provide senior members of our community a safe place to meet for fun and fellowship.

The Arab Senior Center is a 17,000-square-foot multi-purpose facility that provides a safe & enjoyable setting for our valued senior citizens. The Center provides plenty of space to fellowship for visitors to various activities and share experiences with new friends.

Amenities include a large banquet room with a stage that can be used during events and parties. In addition, the Center offers specialty spaces such as:
billiard room
game room
exercise room
library/
reading room
computer room

Each morning there are planned activities for those who wish to participate, all designed to get our seniors moving and keep them active:

Services Offered

Beyond the fun activities our senior members and regular attendees get to enjoy, the Center also offers regular health checks and screenings from home-health agencies, as well as assistance with day-to-day tasks like grocery shopping, reading complex mail and documents, using computers and scheduling appointments, i.e. hairdresser, doctor, and accountant, to name a few.

Bus Transportation ⋅ Home-bound Meals

For resident members ages 60 and up who are unable to drive, bus transportation for groceries, household items, and doctors’ appointments is provided once a week, upon request. Resident members may also request to be picked up and brought to the Center each morning and returned home each afternoon.

Our Home-bound Meals program is another service offered to our home-bound members ages 60 and up living inside the city limits who need their hot lunches delivered to their doorsteps each day.

Other Uses

1.  Banquet Room Rental

The Banquet Room may be rented for banquets, receptions and private events outside of regular business hours.

2.  Polling Location

The Arab Senior Center is the polling location for municipal and other elections for all residences living inside the city limits of Arab.

3.  Free Tax Preparation and E-Filing Services

Each year from late-January to mid-April, volunteers with the Marshall County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a United Way Agency, are available at the Senior Center to provide FREE tax prep, E-Filing and accounting services to the general public.

This program is not specific to senior citizens. Anyone can use the service; there is no age restriction. 

* This is an IRS Trained and Sponsored Program.  

4.  Safe Place of Refuge During Active Weather

IF the National Weather Service (NWS) issues a Tornado Watch, AND the weather becomes active, the Senior Center will be opened to the general public as a safe place of refuge. ** NO PETS or FIREARMS ALLOWED **
