Keep Alabama Beautiful
The City of Arab is an affiliate member of the Keep Alabama Beautiful program. We have a responsibility to keep Arab appealing, beautiful and clean, and to foster engagement in behaviors and service projects that sustain and enhance the beautiful, healthy, and clean atmosphere of our community. We develop partnerships that inspire dynamic acts of recycling, beautification, and litter prevention. Arab Litter Patrol Program
In 2018, the Arab Litter Patrol Program, featuring the Litter Patrol Van, was launched in an effort to keep all 120 miles of City streets and roadways clean and attractive; not just for our residents, but for visitors and anyone passing through, as well as potential business owners and industry leaders who may be looking for the perfect location for their next business venture. In its first year, the Litter Patrol Van, and the Program as a whole, received the 2018 Governor’s Award for Litter Control.
Beautification Award
The Arab Beautification Board has created several specific projects over the years; one of those projects is the “Yards of the Month” program. Each year in the spring and summer months, two residences and one business are chosen to receive the Beautification Award for their efforts in keeping their yards and grounds beautifully-maintained. A decorative sign is placed in their yard for that month, and they receive the Beautification Award certificate from the Mayor’s Office.
Tree City USA
The City of Arab has been a Tree City for 30 years; in collaboration with the Arbor Day celebration, board members and members of the community will plant a new tree in a new location each year in April. The Beautification Board also identifies specific public landscaping projects and makes their recommendations to the City Council for approval.
City-Wide Clean-Up Day
Each year in the spring, the Beautification Board is committed to the success of our City-Wide Clean-Up Day. This clean-up effort requires that the community come together and pitch in to help. By picking up trash throughout the City and along our roadways and disposing of it properly, we are not only helping to enhance the natural beauty of Arab, but we are also making the air cleaner, and developing good habits that can be passed down to future generations, because we all know… The ONLY CURE for Litter is YOU!

The City of Arab has a mission to foster and sustain a living environment that cultivates progressive awareness and the acceptance of diverse cultural differences, while maintaining a wholesome family atmosphere.
The mission also includes an improved quality of life through economic growth and development, continuously seeking ways to increase revenues, and the ongoing expansion of local Infrastructure.
