Elections

The City of Arab holds regular municipal elections every four years* to elect a Mayor and City Council. The elections take place on the fourth Tuesday in August. Runoff elections are held on the sixth Tuesday following a regular election if required. The Mayor and Council elected during regular elections shall assume their duties on the first Monday in November.
*exception with Alabama Legislature adopted Act #2021-157 (Senate Bill 119)

The City Clerk is responsible for coordinating municipal elections.

Absentee Ballots:
To request an Absentee Ballot during a municipal election, contact the City Clerk’s office.  Absentee Ballots are available in August prior to the municipal election.

Absentee ballots for all other elections may be requested at the Marshall County Board of Registrars.
