The City of Arab is now accepting applications for the following job classification with the Parks and Recreation Department:

PARK & RECREATION
LIGHT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
This position entails operation of light equipment in support of Parks & Recreation construction, upkeep, and maintenance; also includes general labor in support of the Department. Incumbent works under general supervision of the Assistant Park & Recreation Director.
§ Operate one or more pieces of Department-related equipment in the performance of Park & Recreation construction, maintenance, and upkeep.
§ Perform work under established procedures with frequent inspections during progress and final inspection of work completed.
§ Perform routine labor as required; operate mowers, weed eaters, pick up trash and garbage; seed and fertilize all playing fields; operate a variety of hand tools; mow grass; strip and wax floors; clean pavilions and Senior Center; maintain playground and equipment, swimming pools, heritage buildings; assist with functions required in public recreational parks and facilities.
§ Perform all other tasks or duties as assigned by Assistant Park & Recreation Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
§ Reading skills to read work orders, street signs, and recreational schedules/activities.
§ Ability to operate a tractor with attachments and light to medium duty trucks.
§ Ability to perform general maintenance on assigned equipment and trucks.
§ Ability to operate light equipment safely.
§ Ability to communicate with other workers.
§ Ability to follow directions.
§ Ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
Be a graduate from an accredited high school or hold a certificate of high school equivalency (GED). Possess a valid Alabama driver’s license, Commercial Driver License (CDL) of the appropriate class, and a driving record suitable for insurability. Willing to travel overnight to attend continuing education courses and workshops. Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position. Willing to work non-standard hours as required.
