Arab Parks and Recreation Department
The Arab Park and Recreation Department has a great responsibility in serving the citizens of Arab with quality and exciting recreational facilities.We have many different facilities and activities to offer the residents year-around enjoyment.
The Recreation Center includes a basketball gymnasium, two racquetball courts, a banquet room, stage, kitchen and a conference room. The Recreation Center office is responsible for the rental of any rooms at the Recreation Center or the Community Senior Center, and the pavilions and gazebo at the park. Also located inside the Arab Recreation Center is the Marshall County Tag Office, a satellite branch of the Marshall County Probate Office. Car tags can be renewed at this office Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The office is closed for lunch from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. NEW or transferred tags can only be purchased from the Marshall County Probate Office, located in the Guntersville Courthouse. For additional information, call (256) 931-2702.
The City of Arab maintains over 140 acres of parks and park property. Arab City Park includes a lighted walking trail and a concrete sidewalk that circles the entire park grounds. There are seven baseball and three softball fields, seven tennis courts, pee-wee football field, municipal swimming pool, multi purpose arena, and the Arab Historical Village. There is a Community Center, four pavilions and a gazebo which can be rented through the Recreation Department. A pond, complete with pier, has been built on the park property for limited fishing. Recently completed, an amphitheater constructed near the pond provides a beautiful and relaxing setting for outdoor plays and concerts. The park also host Christmas in the park starting in November throughout December.

(From Huntsville) Take U.S. Highway 231 South into Arab. Turn left on 7th Avenue NW (McDonald's on left), then right onto Main Street. Continue traveling south through 2 traffic lights. Turn left onto Shoal Creek Trail NE. Park is approximately 1 mile on right.
(From Cullman) Take AL Highway 69 into Arab. Turn left onto Main Street, then right on Shoal Creek Trail NE. Park is approximately 1 mile on right.

The Thompson Eidson Park is a 27 acre complex located adjacent to the Arab Fire Department Station and Emergency 911 Operations Center. This complex includes four lighted soccer fields, an approximate one mile-long walking trail in a natural setting, and a 400 meter running track.

(From Huntsville) Take U.S. Highway 231 South into Arab. Turn right on 4th Avenue NW (beside Clayton Chevrolet), then left on Plaza Drive NW. Park is located adjacent to the Arab Fire Station.
(From Cullman) Take AL Highway 69 into Arab. Take the Northbound exit ramp onto U.S. Highway 231. Turn left onto 4th Avenue NW (beside Clayton Chevrolet), then left on Plaza Drive NW. Park is located adjacent to the Arab Fire Station.
(From Guntersville) Take AL Highway 69 into Arab. Turn right onto 4th Avenue NW. Cross U.S. Highway 231 and continue on 4th Avenue NW. Turn left on Plaza Drive NW. Park is located adjacent to the Arab Fire Station.

This arena is host to our Annual Park and Recreation Horse Show, which has been named "Best One Night Show", by the Alabama Walking Horse Association for numerous years. Over the course of the last few years this show has been a huge success. Previous shows have drawn in up to three hundred participant entries from all over the Southeastern United States. Concessions, featuring southern-style barbecue, will be available. Each year, the show becomes bigger and even better, so be sure to mark your calendar for the second Saturday in July, and make plans to join the fun.
The city pool is open to the public on the following schedule:
- Monday - Saturday: 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The following fees apply to use of the pool:
- Non-Swimmers: $ 1.00
- Ages 2 & Under: $ 1.00
- Ages 3 & Up: $ 3.00
- Individual Season Pass: $ 60.00
- Family (immediate) Season Pass: $125.00
Admission and Season Passes subject to change.
**The pool is also available for rent in the evenings for pool parties.

Youth aged 4 -15 participate in the Arab Baseball Program. During the previous seasons, up to 500 players participated in the Arab Baseball Program. Registration begins in February, with games beginning in April. The Arab Baseball Program is open to all residents of the Arab area. For more information please call (256) 586-6793.
NOTICE: Players for DDB must turn 4 years old before May 1 to participate.
Fall Baseball registration begins in August and season begins in September. Participation rules are different from Spring Rules. Fall Baseball consists of a Spring Coach bringing a team into Fall. Group ages for youth: 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. Arab participates through Guntersville.
ALL NEW PLAYERS MUST PROVIDE BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION.
Girls from ages 6 - 12 years can participate in Girls Fast Pitch Softball. Registration for Fast Pitch Season will begin in early February with games beginning in mid-April. The Arab Girls Softball Program is open to all girls in the Arab Area. For more information, call (256) 586-6793.
NOTICE: Players for Girls Softball Must turn 6 years old before December 31 to participate.
Fall girls softball registration begins in August and season begins in September.

The Arab Swim Team is open to all residents of the Arab area ages 6 - 18. All participants must be able to swim the length of the pool. The Arab Swim Team participates in both District and State Swim Meets. Registration begins in April, Swim practice will begin in May and Swim Team season ends with State Swim Meet.
The Park & Recreation Department offers American Red Cross Swim Lessons for children that are age 4 by May 1st. Registration for these lessons begins May. Call (256) 586-6793 for more details.
Arts Camp is coming in Arab and youngsters can find all kinds of fun activities in drawing, painting, pottery, and dance, just to name a few.
The two week Art Camp is held in July, and will be daily (Monday - Friday) at the Arab Community Center from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. For a complete schedule and registration dates, contact the Recreation Center at (256) 586-6793.
Children who will be in grades 1 - 8 in the fall semester are eligible to enroll. Anyone wishing to enroll can contact the Recreation center office at (256) 586-6793.
Each child should bring a lunch, snack or snack money, swim suit, and towel each day. Registration begins in May.

Flag football is open to boys and girls ages 5-10. Registration begins in June until July and season begins in August.
The City of Arab Recreation Department offers organized sports activities to the youth of Arab. The basketball program is open to all youth ages 5 - 14. (Must be 5 years old prior to September 1). We have teams in the following age groups: 5-6, (boys and girls); (7-8) (9-10) (11-12) (13-14) boys; (9-10) (11-12) girls. Registration will begin in mid-September. Tackle Football is open to boys and girls 9-12. Registration begins last week of July thru first week of August.
Travel Football is open to boys & girls ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12.
Youth soccer is the fastest growing sport in the Arab area. The Arab Park and Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Arab Soccer Association, offers AYSO fall leagues for ages 4 1/2 to 19. Registration will begin in early May and practice will begin in late July. Games will begin in September.
