In conjunction with the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency, the City of Arab maintains its own emergency management organization in order to rapidly respond to both local and regional emergencies and disasters. This organization, with a director trained in emergency response, is comprised of various City public safety and public works departments. Besides conducting immediate response exercises, the Arab EMA group has developed a new awareness of WMD response in accordance with guidelines issued by FEMA and the Office of Homeland Security. The City also operates and maintains a broad network of sirens throughout the community to warn residents of impending severe weather or other disasters.
